Confluence and the Creative Process

3 of Buckets Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi

“The irritating question they ask us — us being writers — is: “Where do you get your ideas?”
And the answer is: Confluence. Things come together. The right ingredients and suddenly: Abracadabra!”
― Neil Gaiman

When I first received the Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi, I had to look up the word ‘confluence.’ English is not my native language and although I had a vague idea of what it means, I wanted to be 100% certain as I feel it is important to understand the keywords on Tarot cards so that I can explain them to my clients as well as make sense of them for myself. The definition  below is from the Free Dictionary:

con·flu·ence (knflns)
n.
1.
a. A flowing together of two or more streams.
b. The point of juncture of such streams.
c. The combined stream formed by this juncture.
2. A gathering, flowing, or meeting together at one juncture or point: “A confluence of negative events conspired to bring down bond prices” (Michael Gonzalez).

It really is the perfect keyword for the Watery 3 of Cups (Mercury in Cancer). And I was even more pleased when I found the quote above to focus on one of the meanings of this card. Neil Gaiman is one of my favourite authors and totally quote-worthy!

The confluence of thoughts and ideas is one of the main reasons I love my life so much. The more I open up and allow this to happen, the more magickal life becomes. Who has time for TV?

Love and Blessings,

Lisa
